TRUMP’S ACTIONS DEBUNK ALL THE CLAIMS AND BANNERS THAT REPUBLICANS HAVE EMBRACED OVER THE DECADES

 

First, the Right railed against “activist judges,” that is, political judges. Who has done more to politicize the U.S. judicial system than the Republicans and Trump in particular? 6 of the 9 Supreme Court Judges are more disciplined along party lines, that is they toe the line, more than even Republicans in congress. 

Second, all the talk of “cancel culture.” Who practices cancel culture more than Trump, with the unanimous backing of the Republicans in congress? What could be more cancel culture than going after students who are protesting such horrendous actions as the starving of an entire people, that is the Palestinians in Gaza? And what about the sacking of Stephen Colbert?

Third, the Republicans were supposed to be the decent ones, who abided by the norms of behavior, while the Democrats were licentious, without restraint. The Republicans were so self-righteous in the days of Monica Lewinsky. Now they are unfazed by the numerous accusations of sexual harassment lodged against Trump. How times have changed! 

Fourth, for the Republicans, the family was supposed to be sacred. So why do they break up so many immigrant families and sever children from their moms and place them in cages?

Politicians are notorious for their double standards, but with the Republicans in the age of Trump, things have reached a new extreme.
