Today's UN General Assembly News: A Vote in Favor of Venezuela, Against U.S. Bullying

The UN’s General Assembly voted today in favor of seating Venezuela on the UN’s Human Rights Council. The U.S. had carried out a full-fledged campaign to block Venezuela’s candidacy. At the last moment, Costa Rica entered the race alleging that Venezuela could not be admitted due to its alleged violation of human rights. Nikki Haley published an op-ed in the Miami Herald saying the same. This was intended to be a prelude to unseating the Maduro government from the UN and turning over its credentials to Juan Guaidó’s-fantasy like shadow government. The vote, which was secret, can be interpreted as a rejection of U.S. heavy-handedness world-wide.
