The
Democratic Party leadership shook take notice of what happened yesterday in
France. The center allied with the left was able to put the breaks on the
neo-fascists. The only way Trump and Trumpism can be defeated is for the
Democrats to reach out to the left. I read one article that the Democrats are
worried about Kamala Harris because she is too far to the left. That’s ridiculous.
She is hardly to the left of Biden. She is as centrist as he is. The Democrats
need someone who will come out forcefully for a permanent cease fire in Gaza, who
will propose negotiations between Ukraine and Russia for an end to a war that
has no end in sight, who will at the very least accept Bernie Sanders’ proposal
for a 10% reduction in military spending, and will retake Obama’s initiatives in
favor of normalization with Cuba and a treaty with Iran. All these are for
starters. In this way the Democratic Party leaders may be able to activate the
party’s base like Obama did in 2008.
The centralization of ownership of the private media in the United States and elsewhere has become increasingly pronounced, at the same time that its reporting has become increasingly one-sided and monolithic. My blog seeks to expose this lack of objectivity and present alternative ideas that point in the direction of much-needed fundamental change.
