Tens of thousands of articles in the mainstream media report on West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin’s blocking of progressive legislation backed by the Democratic Party. Not one of those articles point out how undemocratic it is that California has 22 times more population than West Virginia. That’s to say that Manchin’s vote should have one 22^nd the weight of that of a California fellow senator. One afterthought. Allegedly undemocratic Venezuela scrapped the undemocratic bicameral congressional system in favor of a unicameral system under the 1999 constitution promoted by President Hugo Chávez and opposed by the Venezuelan opposition now avidly supported by Washington.
