HOW DEMOCRATIC IS THE
DEMOCRATIC PARTY? 85 percent of Democratic congressional Representatives and the overwhelming
majority of the party’s rank and file oppose the Trans Pacific Partnership
(TPP). In addition, both major pre-candidates (Sanders and Clinton) are publicly
opposed to it. Yet the Democratic convention platform committee refused to draft
a statement in opposition to the TPP. It also refused to call the occupation of
the West Bank by Israel an “occupation,” as the Sanders people proposed. If it’s
not an occupation, then what do you call it? The centralization of ownership of the private media in the United States and elsewhere has become increasingly pronounced, at the same time that its reporting has become increasingly one-sided and monolithic. My blog seeks to expose this lack of objectivity and present alternative ideas that point in the direction of much-needed fundamental change.
